The Rise And Fall Of Nations

Daniel 7:17: These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.

I suggest you read the rest of the seventh chapter of Daniel. Pastor Leonard bullock did some research on the rise and fall of the four empires mentioned in Daniel 7:17. The four empires in the prophecy were the Assyrian, the Medo-Persian, the Greek and the Roman Empire. The Lord only gave those nations one chance at greatness. After they fell they were never great world powers a second time.

The Israelites are God*s chosen people and they have risen and fallen repeatedly. They prospered when they obeyed the Lord and they suffered when they did not. They have not always risen to the level of a great world power but God promises that in the end times they will be the most important nation on earth. Even in their bad times and failures, to God they have always been the most important nation on earth.

Isaiah 60:3, 5, 10-12: And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. . . . 5 Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee. . . . 10 And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee. 11 Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought. 12 For the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted.

I suggest you read all of Isaiah chapter 60.

God miraculously preserved Israel as a people for about nineteen hundred years even though they didn*t have a homeland until 1948, even though they were dispersed around the world, even though the nations of the world often mysteriously and unjustly hated them and even though all the families of the earth have been blessed through them.

Israel comprises about 0.02 percent of the world population. They have won 129 Nobel prizes. Muslims comprise about 20 percent of the world population. They have won seven Nobel prizes. Those statistics were from 5 or 10 years ago. The Jews excel in science, finance, music, agriculture, medicine and just about every other field you can think of.

Micah 5:7: And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the LORD, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men.

See how the circumstances of the rise and fall of the other nations compare with what is happening in America today.

When they arose, these nations had the following characteristics:

One. THEY WERE A BLESSING TO ISRAEL. Two. They had Divine favor. Three. They had steadfastness and discipline. Four. They had moral character.

Genesis 12:1-3: Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father*s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3 nd I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

The blessing of Abraham was passed on to Isaac and then to Jacob (who became Israel) but not to Esau his brother.

Genesis 27:29: Let people serve thee, (Jacob) and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother*s sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee.

During their decline and fall they had the following characteristics:

THEY BECAME ENEMIES OF ISRAEL (The rise and fall of those nations was always connected to their blessing or cursing Israel.)
They displeased God and lost His favor.
Morals declined. Drunkenness increased. Divorce increased. Breakup of families.
Breakdown of law and order. Crime and violence increased. Prostitution increased.
Scarcity of food. Waste. Economic recession. Political corruption.
Loss of health, freedom and agriculture. Technology suffered. Urban decay. Unemployment.
Inflation. Wasteful spending. Military conquest.
